I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to joining the faculty at UMass, I was an Academic Professional at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a joint appointment in Leadership Education & Development and the School of Public Policy. I received my PhD from the School of City & Regional Planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology. My work is dedicated to understanding how planners use technology, how it changes the way we work, and how we can use learning science to improve both our teaching and public engagement strategies. I am committed to applied scholarship that has a direct impact on the ways in which planners work with their communities.
I received a Masters in Regional Planning and a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources and International Agriculture & Rural Development, both from Cornell University. Prior to beginning my PhD I worked as a planning consultant in Florida and the Southeast to help communities complete long-range land-use/transportation studies, comprehensive plans, scenario plans, and strategic visions. I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Planning Association (APA) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP).
